Details
The PebblePad integration for Blackboard uses a combination of Blackboard APIs and LTI 1.3, providing secure, standards‑based connectivity aligned with 1EdTech best practice. LTI is used for launch, deep linking and grade return, while APIs support membership and enrolment synchronisation.
The integration supports the following:
- Single sign-on (SSO) from Blackboard into:

- Pebble+ (PebblePad’s personal learning space for students)

- ATLAS (PebblePad’s assessment, feedback and reporting environment)
- Automatic account provisioning on first launch for new users
- Enrolment synchronisation from Blackboard courses into ATLAS workspaces, with equivalent permissions applied
- Role recognition, mapping Blackboard roles to appropriate ATLAS roles (e.g. students and assessors)
- Deep linking to PebblePad resources directly from Blackboard modules or content areas
- Assignment‑to‑resource linking, allowing Blackboard assignments to direct students to a specified PebblePad resource
- Support for collaborative (co‑owned) resources when selecting content for direct linking
- Multiple ATLAS assignments per course, with each assignment returning a single grade
- Secure grade return from ATLAS to the Blackboard Grade Centre
- Continuous member synchronisation, including support for Blackboard groups mapped to ATLAS sets
The integration uses LTI 1.3 with OAuth 2.0, delivering enhanced security compared to earlier LTI versions and supporting a more robust, future‑proof connection between Blackboard and PebblePad.
